DEMOCRATIC UMMAT AL ISLAM ASSOCIATION IS CALLING ON THE VICE PRESIDENT WHO IS ALSO THE FLAGBEARER FOR THE NPP TO DESIST CARRYING HIMSELF AS A REPRESENTATIVE OF MUSLIMS BECAUSE HE HAS FAILED THE MUSLIM COMMUNITY’S.
We ask, who is Bawumia? Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is currently the Vice President of Ghana who has the Holy Quran in the Flagstaff House. He was sworn in with the Holy Quran as a symbol of authority for Muslims, but has he lived up to expectations? NO.
What Makes Him a Muslim? Nothing about Bawumia shows that he is a true Muslim. In July 2018, seven of our Muslim brothers were shot and killed by the police after allegedly being labeled as armed robbers. Their names were Abdul Hanan Bashir, Musah Seidu, Mohammed Bashir Musah, Mohammed Kamal, Babonte Farar, Razak Sulley, and Oliver Konlang. Bawumia, who was then and is still the second gentleman of the land, has not said a word. After investigations, it was found that they were not armed robbers, yet the 21 policemen responsible are still walking free, as reported by Graphic Online.

On January 16, 2019, Ahmed Hussein Suale, an investigative journalist, was killed by unknown gunmen after the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, displayed his picture on live television, calling for him to be beaten wherever he was seen. Bawumia, as Vice President and a self-proclaimed representative of Muslims, never spoke up.
During the 2020 elections, four of our Muslim brothers and sisters were killed, yet Bawumia remained silent. Is Bawumia incapable of making decisions, or is he not a man of his word? Tajudeen Alhassan (39) and Abdallah Ayoric (18) from the Techiman South Constituency were killed. In the Savelugu Constituency, Samira Zakaria and Ibrahim Abass (30) from Ablekuma Central Constituency also lost their lives.
Recently, on July 13, 2024, during a Facebook Live session, popular musician and politician Kwame Asare Obeng, known as A-Plus, made a startling revelation regarding the murder of Ahmed Hussein Suale. He said, “I know the person who killed Ahmed Suale. I swear to God. I swear by the children I have brought to this world; if you try me, I will conduct a press conference every day.” Are we truly being represented by a Muslim Vice President?
We were all in this country when the Adhan (call to prayer) issue arose, yet Bawumia said nothing. To this day, wearing the hijab is still an issue in some schools. Where is the so-called Muslim Vice President?
What has happened to the Zongo Ministries? How much is the Hajj fare today? What has become of the $50 million annually promised to the Zongo Development Fund? Bawumia promised to build the Ansaarudeen for the National Chief Imam; what progress has been made? The Abosokai mosque—what is its status? What happened to the promise of building 16 model schools in the 16 regions for our Zongo communities?
The National Muslim Conference’s 2024 manifesto proposals have fallen on deaf ears. Nothing about Bawumia shows he cares for Muslims, and he should not be trusted.
In a recent media encounter, when Bawumia was asked if his boss (the President) had made any statements regarding the killings of eight electorates during the 2020 elections, he responded, “I am not aware if my boss has done that.” Does this man value our votes?
NO
Inna Lillah Wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un—may their humble souls rest in perfect peace.
Every Muslim Life Matters
SAY NO TO BAWUMIA
