Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the presidential running mate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), spoke on Radio 1 Morning Show ‘Ɔman Mu Nsem’ during the start of her two-day campaign tour in the Eastern Region.

She criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for not treating cocoa farmers fairly.

According to her, when the NDC was in power, they managed the affairs of cocoa farmers more effectively. She noted, “The income farmers receive is not monthly; it often comes annually.” She added that under the NDC, they ensured favorable cocoa prices so farmers could sustain their livelihoods.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang criticized the current government’s approach, stating, “If you now ask cocoa farmers to use their own money to buy fertilizers and other chemicals, it is unfair. The NDC believes that the government should provide these resources so that farmers don’t run out of money and face difficulties.”
