During a health program on Radio 1, 100.7 FM, called “Me Ne W’apomuden,” Madam Esther Oparebea, a mental health nurse from the Osino Health Center, provided valuable insights into mental health.

She explained that mental health issues extend beyond the common perception that only those who remove their clothes or walk around naked are mentally ill. Nurse Esther emphasized that conditions like depression can also lead to mental health challenges.

She noted that while feeling sad is normal, persistent sadness lasting more than two weeks could be a warning sign that professional assistance is needed. She added that other indicators of mental health issues may include intense anger, social withdrawal, and stress.

Nurse Esther encouraged listeners not to limit their understanding of mental health problems to visible signs such as undressing in public. Instead, she stressed the importance of recognizing less obvious symptoms to provide timely support and care.
