The Ghana Security Services organized a peace walk on November 23, 2024, to demonstrate their commitment to ensuring peaceful and fair elections. The event brought together the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and the Ambulance Service.
Speaking after the walk, the Eastern South Regional Commander, Bossman Ohene Boadi, explained why the security agencies came together for the initiative.
“The Ghana Security Service has united as a team because togetherness brings unity and peace. It is our duty to protect lives and property, ensuring no one is humiliated or denied their rights. If the Police Service works alone while the Immigration Service does the same, peace will not prevail. That is why we have joined forces to work as a team,” he said
Commander Boadi further explained that election guidelines have been provided to all officers. “They have been trained on the dos and don’ts of election security. We have held welfare meetings and will continue these sessions until after the elections to ensure the security forces remain focused and peaceful,” he said.

Reflecting on past elections, he acknowledged mistakes that led to conflicts and misunderstandings. “Since 1992, there have been errors during elections that caused problems. However, we have learned from those mistakes. The Inspector General of Police, George Akuffo Dampare, and other security heads have established rules and regulations to guide us. These will help us maintain peace and avoid bias. Our role as security personnel is to protect, not to destroy,” he emphasized.
The peace walk served as a symbol of the united front among the various security agencies, assuring the public of their readiness to ensure a peaceful election process.
