In a recent interview on Radio1’s Morning Show with Nana Kwabena Addo, Ivan Koranteng Bortei, a Regional Communication Team member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Deputy Election Director for Suhum, sharply criticized Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President and presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to Bortei, Bawumia is unfit for the upcoming election, claiming that the Vice President lacks the necessary qualities to lead the country. “Bawumia is unfit for this election; he doesn’t have the presence to be president, and he does not have that crescendo,” Bortei remarked during the interview.
The comment comes as the race for Ghana’s presidency heats up, with both major political parties, the NPP and NDC, intensifying their campaigns ahead of the election. Bortei’s statement reflects the NDC’s position that Bawumia, despite his role as Vice President, lacks the leadership and vision to steer the country forward.
While the NPP has consistently praised Dr. Bawumia’s economic and leadership credentials, the NDC has voiced concerns about his ability to address Ghana’s economic challenges, especially in light of the current economic crisis.
