Cocoa Agroforestry was featured program on Radio1 where Mr. Emmanuel Antwi who is the manager for the Forestry Commission in Kyebi addressed cocoa farmers.
He shared that the Forestry Commission is providing free trees to cocoa farmers, without requiring any payment.
Mr. Antwi explained, “The Forestry Commission, in collaboration with the Ghana Cocoa Board, is supplying trees to farmers for planting on their farms, which will support the growth of their cocoa.”
He went on to describe some of the challenges farmers face when collecting the trees, saying, “Often, farmers come to collect the trees without a vehicle, such as a car or truck, to transport them. They don’t always know how to get the trees to their farms.”

He added that, “In some cases, two or more communities arrive with vehicles that help them carry the trees to their destinations. So, I encourage individuals coming to collect trees to bring their own vehicle.”
Mr. Antwi concluded by reassuring farmers that the trees they receive are provided free of charge. “Whether you come to the Forestry Commission or the Ghana Cocoa Board office, the trees we provide are at no cost to you,” he said.
