The former Member of Parliament (MP) for Awowene Constituency, Hon. Mathias Kwame Ntow, speaking on Radio1’s Beyereɛm program, explained that “seats in Parliament become vacant when the representatives of the various constituencies are no longer sitting in their seats in Parliament.”

Hon. Mathias further clarified, saying, “We have 275 parliamentary seats in Ghana, with each representative sitting in Parliament to represent their respective constituencies across the country. Therefore, when these seats are declared vacant, it means that no one is representing that particular constituency.”

He emphasized the importance of having active representatives in Parliament, stating, “Parliament must have representatives who can speak for their people in their constituencies.”
