The Deputy Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Abuakwa South Constituency, Mr. David Zanbalaku, has outlined his party’s plans to tackle corruption if elected into power. Speaking on Radio 1’s morning show Oman Mu Nsem, Mr. Zanbalaku criticized the current government’s approach to fighting corruption and expressed confidence in the NDC’s anti-corruption strategies.

Mr. Zanbalaku accused President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of reneging on his promise to adopt the “Anas Principle” to combat corruption. According to him, “President Nana Addo told Ghanaians that he would use the Anas principle to fight against corruption, but he failed his promises. Rather, he came to fight against Anas.”

The NDC Deputy Secretary further emphasized the party’s commitment to adopting investigative journalism to expose corrupt individuals. He stated, “The anti-corruption initiatives the president-elect John Dramani Mahama has selected will use the Anas principle because Raymond Archer, an investigative journalist, will apply the principles Anas uses to expose the people who are doing corruption. He said that during the time of the late President Atta Mills, they used the Anas principle to fight against corruption and exposed many people. John Mahama also did when he was in government.”

Mr. Zanbalaku assured listeners that the next NDC government would make corruption unattractive in Ghana. He noted, “A time came when we said we should protect the public purse, but the public purse was stolen. Therefore, the five-member committee will ensure that public funds are safeguarded. If you have stolen public money, you are going to be exposed.”

In his concluding remarks, Mr. Zanbalaku alleged that Cecilia Dapaah, a former government appointee, kept public funds and claimed they were proceeds from funeral contributions. He vowed that an NDC government would investigate such matters thoroughly, stating, “NDC is going to search and know something about her stolen money.”
