A Regional Communications Team Member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Odame, has advised the newly confirmed Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Abuakwa South Constituency, Aikins Addo Sarpong Jnr., to prioritize unity and collaboration with assembly members in the area.

Speaking on the Radio1 Morning Show on Friday, Mr. Odame congratulated Mr. Sarpong on his confirmation but cautioned him against arrogance in his new role.

“Now that he has been confirmed, the real work begins. Aikins must focus on uniting the assembly and working hand in hand with the members for the development of the constituency,” he stated.

Mr. Odame emphasized that effective leadership thrives on humility and consultation, especially at the local government level where cooperation is essential for progress.

He further urged the MCE to respect divergent views and remain accessible to all stakeholders, regardless of political affiliation, stressing that the people of Abuakwa South deserve inclusive and impactful leadership.

The call comes after days of political tension surrounding the MCE’s confirmation process, which saw both support and opposition from various quarters within the municipality.

Mr. Sarpong is expected to commence his official duties in the coming week.
