There will be a ban on noise-making from 3rd June to 17th June 2025 as part of preparations for the celebration of the Yam Festival at Akyem Tafo and surrounding communities in the Eastern Region. Many people know this festival as the Ohum Kan Festival.

She made these remarks during the 40th anniversary celebration of Daasebre Adusei Peasah IV, the Akyem Tafo chief, and the launch of the official Ohum Kan Festival cloth and t-shirts.

According to her, “The ending of the Ohum Kan festival will be on the 17th of June 2025, which is next month, therefore on Tuesday the elders will sit in the chief palace and think about the Tafo community up to Friday.”

She added, “On Friday, everybody is going to wear all white, that’s the exact day the Ohum Kan festival celebration starts, and also they will be visiting the gods to spread the new yam on the gods that same day.”
