Nsutem, May 28, 2025 – More than 700 female students of New Nsutem Senior High Technical School were empowered with critical knowledge and skills on menstrual health and hygiene during this year’s Menstrual Hygiene Day celebration, organized by Care for Society Network International under its Obaa Nhwɛso Initiative.

Celebrated under the theme “Together, a Period-Friendly Ghana,” the event aimed to break menstrual taboos and foster confidence among adolescent girls through education and engagement. The program featured a Cycle-Smart Quiz Show, where Miss Regina Appiah Bonney, a science student from House 3, emerged as the 2025 Menstrual Hygiene Ambassador after excelling through rounds on biological knowledge, product use, and cultural myths surrounding menstruation.

Inspiring speeches and practical demonstrations were delivered by health and education experts, including Ms. Adelaide Appiah from Ghana Health Service and the school’s headmistress. They emphasized the importance of sustainable menstrual practices and called for continued advocacy, including the provision of free sanitary pads for schoolgirls.

The program also saw the donation of sanitary pads to all girls, with support from Ghana Health Service (Fanteakwa South) and other individuals, reinforcing the initiative’s shift from product-based to education-focused interventions.
