Police arrest four after violent Nsawam sand dispute

Police in the Eastern South Region have arrested four suspects linked to a deadly shooting at Asiyaw near Akwane-Dobro, which claimed five lives following a confrontation over sand winning.

The suspects were picked up from different hideouts and have since been arraigned. Three were remanded into prison custody and one into police custody.

In a statement issued by the police, a forensic team dispatched to the scene discovered the lifeless bodies of five adult males bearing gunshot wounds.

The incident has heightened concerns about rising tensions associated with illegal sand winning activities in the area.
