The Managing Editor of the Daily Democrat newspaper, Mr. Emmanuel Opare Gyan, has said that those calling for a state of emergency in the country should also call for a review of the constitution.

Speaking on Radio 1’s morning show with Nana Kwabena Addo, Mr. Opare Gyan explained that the challenges facing the nation go beyond temporary measures like a state of emergency. According to him, some of the problems are rooted in the country’s constitution, which needs to be reviewed to address the current realities. Those calling for state emergency, should call for review of the constitution too.

He added that without a constitutional review, declaring a state of emergency would only provide a short-term solution and not fix the real issues affecting governance and development.

Mr. Opare Gyan therefore urged political leaders, civil society groups, and citizens to focus on long-term reforms that will strengthen Ghana’s democracy and ensure sustainable progress.
