Mr. James Debrah, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Regional Communication Team, has urged all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MCEs and DCEs) to work harder and show true commitment towards the development of their respective assemblies.

Speaking on Oman Mu Nsem, a morning show on Radio 1 FM, Mr. Debrah commended President John Mahama for his dedication to supporting local governance and development. According to him, “the amount of money President John Mahama has allocated to the various assemblies within just ten months in office is more than what the NPP government under President Nana Akufo-Addo provided in their eight years in office.”

He explained that the NDC government believes in decentralization and empowering local assemblies to bring development closer to the people. For that reason, he said, President Mahama has released significant financial resources to the assemblies to help improve infrastructure, social services, and local economic development.

Mr. Debrah therefore urged all MCEs and DCEs to make good use of the funds allocated to them, emphasizing that the money should be used wisely to benefit the people and improve the quality of life in their communities. “The MCEs and DCEs should not give any excuses for poor performance because the government has provided the needed support for them to work effectively,” he said.

He reminded them that President Mahama’s “Better Ghana Agenda” can only be achieved if the people in leadership positions at the local level remain committed, accountable, and transparent in their duties. concluded by calling on the MCEs and DCEs to serve the people with honesty and integrity. He said they must remember that the funds entrusted to them belong to the people, and they will be held responsible for how they use them. He expressed hope that with dedication and hard work, the NDC government’s vision of a better and more developed Ghana will become a reality.
