The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects accused of plotting to assassinate a Chief in the Eastern Region.

The suspects, identified as Emelia Akua Asor and Butawaku Seth, were arrested following an intelligence-led operation. Their arrest came after police uncovered a plan to kill the Chief ahead of his first Royal Durbar, set for October 17, 2025, at Akyem Kwabeng.

Acting on intelligence received on October 11, 2025, a police team infiltrated the suspects’ network. During the operation, Emelia Akua Asor allegedly offered GHC 50,000.00 to undercover officers to kill the Chief and another woman believed to be in line for installation as Queen Mother. She also instructed Butawaku Seth to help identify the victims’ residences.

Butawaku Seth then led the officers to the homes of the Chief and the woman and provided a photograph of the Chief to make identification easier. He also promised an additional GHC 50,000.00 after the crime was completed.
