Afenyo-Markin Fulfils Promise as New Dr. Apetorgbor Dzodzegbe Health Centre Opens in Effutu

The people of Ateitu-Winneba in the Effutu Constituency have received a major boost in healthcare access as Hon. Alexander Kwamena Osahene Afenyo-Markin, Member of Parliament for Effutu and Minority Leader of Ghana’s Parliament, officially commissioned the ultra-modern Dr. Apetorgbor Dzodzegbe Health Centre.
The newly unveiled facility stands as a testament to Afenyo-Markin’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery in Effutu. Equipped with advanced medical tools, including a haematology analyser, Olympus equipment, delivery beds, 50-litre oxygen cylinders, and a modern microscope, the centre promises quality, reliable, and accessible healthcare for residents. It also features fully furnished consultation rooms, a pharmacy, stable electricity and water supply, and a disability-friendly design meant for both the elderly and persons living with disabilities.
In a heartfelt address, Afenyo-Markin revealed the inspiration behind naming the facility after the celebrated medical practitioner, Dr. Apetorgbor Dzodzegbe. He noted that Dr. Dzodzegbe’s dedication and life-saving work, especially in women’s health, left an indelible mark on Winneba.
“Growing up in Winneba, every Winnebarian mentions Dr. Apetorgbor Dzodzegbe’s name,” he said. “His selflessness is the reason we honour him today.”
He encouraged public servants and leaders to emulate Dr. Dzodzegbe’s example by using their positions to serve others and transform their communities. Afenyo-Markin reaffirmed his vision to leave behind a legacy of development and improved quality of life in Effutu.
Adding her voice, Dr. Paullette Brown, the Effutu Municipal Health Director, applauded the MP for his unwavering efforts in strengthening the municipality’s healthcare system. She urged residents to take full advantage of the new facility, which includes an air-conditioned labour ward and other modern amenities.Dr. Brown also expressed gratitude to the Ghana Health Service for promptly deploying nurses to the centre, ensuring that professional care would be available from the outset. She highlighted that the new health centre would drastically reduce the need for residents to travel long distances to the Trauma and Municipal hospitals.

With its modern equipment, dedicated staff, and community-centred design, the Dr. Apetorgbor Dzodzegbe Health Centre is set to become a beacon of hope,bringing healthcare closer to the people of Effutu and marking a significant step forward in the constituency’s health development journey.
