The appointment of Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo as Board Chairman of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) by President John Dramani Mahama was based on competence, character, and proven leadership, not appearance, according to the Head of Public Relations at COCOBOD, Mr. Jerome K. Sam.

Speaking on Radio1 100.7FM’s Morning Show with host Nana Kwabena Addo, Mr. Sam explained that the President’s decision was grounded in Dr. Ofosu Ampofo’s high level of competence, strong track record, extensive administrative experience, and well-known reputation as a problem solver in public service. “I strongly believe the President appointed Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo not because of how he looks, but because of his competence and what he brings to the table,” Mr. Sam stated.

He added that it therefore comes as no surprise that President Mahama entrusted the cocoa sector to Dr. Ofosu Ampofo, with a clear mandate to strengthen and transform the cocoa industry.

Mr. Sam further noted that the Board Chairman is working closely with the Chief Executive Officer of COCOBOD, Dr. Randy Abbey, who also brings a wealth of experience to the role. He said their leadership is supported by a team of dedicated and knowledgeable professionals committed to repositioning the cocoa sector for growth and long-term sustainability.
