The Board Chairman of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, has donated a total of 100 streetlights to communities in the Abuakwa South Municipality of the Eastern Region, demonstrating his commitment to inclusive community development.

The streetlights were distributed across four towns within the Abuakwa South municipality. His hometown, Akyem Adukrom, received 40 streetlights, while Akyem Asikam, Akyem Segyemase, and Bunso each benefited from 20 streetlights.
Speaking at the presentation, Dr. Ofosu Ampofo explained that the donation was intentionally shared among different communities to promote fairness and unity. He noted that while Akyem Adukrom is his hometown, development should not be limited to one area simply because of personal ties.

He stressed that he did not want a situation where people would say that upon assuming office, he supported only his hometown and neglected other communities within the municipality. According to him, leadership comes with the responsibility to uplift all communities, not just one.

Residents and opinion leaders expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful. They noted that the installation of the streetlights will improve security, enhance night-time activities, and contribute to the overall development of the beneficiary communities. The donation reflects Dr. Ofosu Ampofo’s broader vision of shared progress and inclusive leadership values he continues to uphold in his role as Board Chairman of COCOBOD and as a committed son of Abuakwa South.
