Hon. George Bossoh, the Assemblyman for Ehiamenkyene in the Fanteakwa South District of the Eastern Region, has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to urgently intervene in the construction of the community’s road network.

Speaking to the media, Hon. Bossoh outlined several challenges confronting his electoral area, including a poor road network, lack of funds to maintain sanitation at the Ehiamenkyene Market, the absence of a football park for the youth, and rising unemployment. He described these issues as major concerns that have given him sleepless nights.

According to the Assemblyman, Ehiamenkyene is predominantly a farming community whose residents produce food to feed the nation. Major farm produce from the area includes gari, plantain, yam, maize, cassava, vegetables, and palm oil. However, due to the deplorable state of the roads, farmers struggle to transport their produce to market, leading to spoilage and financial losses, rendering their hard work futile.

Hon. Bossoh stated that the previous NPP administration failed to fulfil its promise to construct the road linking Ehiamenkyene. Despite this, he commended the current District Chief Executive, Hon. Mercy Korang, for providing potable drinking water and a school for the community. He expressed optimism that the NDC government would listen to their concerns and address the challenges facing the area.

He further appealed to the District Assembly to support sanitation efforts at the Ehiamenkyene Market by providing personnel for regular cleaning, noting that the absence of Zoomlion services has left the market in an unsanitary condition in addition, the Assemblyman called on prominent indigenes of Fanteakwa South, including Hon. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo of the Office of the Vice President, the Board Chairman of COCOBOD, and Madam Abigail Elorm, National Deputy Women’s Organizer of the NDC and Chief Executive Officer of MASLOC, to support the community in securing a football park for the youth.

Hon. Bossoh expressed strong confidence that the NDC, as a listening government, would heed the plight of the people of Ehiamenkyene and take concrete steps to address the challenges confronting the community.
