Radio Host Demands Evidence as NPP Communicator Makes Kenkey Price Allegation

A political discussion on Radio 1’s morning show has stirred controversy after an allegation was made that former President John Dramani Mahama promised to reduce the price of kenkey from five cedis to one cedi.
The claim was made by Mr. Felix Acheampong, a Communications Officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Abuakwa South, during a live broadcast hosted by Nana Kwabena Addo. According to Mr. Acheampong, the alleged statement, kenkey to reduce from five to 0ne cedi was attributed to President Mahama, suggesting a drastic reduction in the cost of the popular Ghanaian staple.
During the discussion, the host, Nana Kwabena Addo, challenged Mr. Acheampong to provide evidence to support the claim. However, despite repeated requests, the NPP communications officer was unable to present any verifiable proof or source to back the assertion. The exchange grew tense as Mr. Acheampong accused the host of being biased you are being biased after the insistence on evidence, a claim Nana Kwabena Addo rejected, maintaining that his questions were based on journalistic fairness and the need for factual accuracy.
The incident has since generated mixed reactions among listeners and on social media, with some calling for responsible political communication, while others defended the host’s role in demanding accountability on air.
