Accra, February 2026 — The Majority Caucus of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Parliament has called for the immediate cancellation of the party’s parliamentary primaries held in the Ayawaso East Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, following allegations of vote buying.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Caucus said it had taken note of widely circulated allegations of electoral malpractice during the just-ended primaries. The lawmakers strongly condemned the alleged conduct, describing it as inconsistent with the party’s stated agenda to reset Ghana’s politics and uphold integrity within its internal democratic processes.
According to the statement, the decision followed extensive deliberations by both the core and extended leadership of the Majority Caucus. The Caucus resolved to formally communicate its position to the Functional Executive Committee of the NDC.
Among its key resolutions, the Caucus called for the annulment of the Ayawaso East parliamentary primary with immediate effect. It further urged that any candidate found, after due investigation, to have engaged in vote buying or other unethical practices should be disqualified from contesting in the subsequent primary following the annulment.
“The NDC Majority Caucus remains committed to restoring integrity to our politics,” the statement emphasized.
