The Fanteakwa South Communication Officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Eastern Region, Oduro Amaning, has called for the immediate reshuffle of the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, citing what he describes as unsatisfactory performance.

According to Mr. Amaning, the current leadership of the agriculture sector has fallen short of expectations at a time when decisive action is needed to address persistent challenges confronting farmers and other stakeholders.

He argued that the Minister’s performance has not inspired confidence among farmers, particularly cocoa producers and other agricultural workers who continue to grapple with economic difficulties.

Mr. Amaning stressed that the agriculture sector remains a cornerstone of Ghana’s economy and requires strong and competent leadership to drive growth, ensure food security, and improve the livelihoods of farmers nationwide.

He therefore urged the government to consider reshuffling Hon. Opoku in order to restore confidence in the sector and strengthen the implementation of agricultural policies and programmes.

The NPP communicator added that farmers deserve enhanced support and effective leadership to sustain their critical contribution to national development.
