The Ghana Police Service, through the Bono East Regional Command, has handed over a bag containing GHC 85,000 to its rightful owner after it was discovered at a snap check point on the Techiman–Kumasi Highway.
According to the Police, the bag was found at about 4:20 a.m. on February 14, 2026, by officers on duty at a snap check point in the Techiman area. The bag, which had apparently fallen from a moving vehicle, was spotted lying by the roadside. It bore the name “Ofori” and a contact number.
The officers, led by Inspector George Appiah and three other personnel, retrieved the bag and discovered it contained a large sum of money. The bag was subsequently forwarded to the Regional Command for further investigation.

Police contacted the number written on the bag, and a 53-year-old businessman, Stephen Ofori, from Ashtown in Kumasi, responded and later reported to the police to claim ownership.

Mr. Ofori explained that the GHC 85,000 had been withdrawn from GCB Bank in Wa and was being transported to Kumasi aboard a commercial vehicle when it was inadvertently lost.
The cash was counted and verified in the presence of the claimant and confirmed to be GHC 85,000. Following satisfactory verification and confirmation of ownership, the Police released the money to Mr. Ofori.
The Police Command commended the officers for their professionalism and integrity, as well as members of the public who assisted in drawing attention to the discovered bag.
