The meeting, held on Monday, March 16, 2026, brought together the Minister for the Interior, the Acting Minister for Defence, and key leaders of the nation’s security institutions to review ongoing recruitment processes.

After receiving a briefing on the current exercise, President Mahama directed that the number of personnel to be recruited into the various security agencies be increased from 20,000 to 40,000 over a four-year period. The move, according to the Presidency, is aimed at strengthening the country’s security architecture and improving operational capacity across the services.
