The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has assured the public that Ghana has sufficient fuel stocks and that the country’s petroleum supply remains stable despite concerns about developments in the global energy market.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, the Authority said it had taken note of recent reports and public commentary suggesting that changes in the international petroleum market could affect fuel supply and prices in the country.

However, after a comprehensive review conducted with the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition and key industry stakeholders, the NPA confirmed that Ghana currently has adequate supplies of major petroleum products to meet both current and projected national demand.

According to the Authority, sufficient quantities of Petrol (PMS), Diesel (AGO), Aviation Turbine Kerosene (ATK), and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) are available nationwide.

The NPA explained that government, through the Ministry and the Authority, has put in place proactive measures to safeguard fuel supply and maintain market stability. These include continuous monitoring of national petroleum stock levels and strategic coordination with International Oil Trading Companies, Bulk Import, Distribution and Export Companies (BIDECs), BOST Energies, and local refineries to ensure timely imports and steady distribution of petroleum products across the country.

The Authority added that it is also strengthening supply planning and price monitoring mechanisms to reduce the risk of supply disruptions or price volatility linked to developments in the global petroleum market.
The NPA therefore urged the public to remain calm and avoid panic buying, stressing that the petroleum supply chain is operating normally and that adequate fuel stocks are available throughout the country.

It reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring reliable fuel supply, transparent market operations, and the protection of consumer interests while keeping the public informed of any significant developments.
