MTN@25: The Complaints Of MoMo Fraud Has Reduced – CEO of MTN Ghana

The Chief Executive Officer of the giant Mobile Telecommunication Network (MTN) in Ghana, Selorm Adadevoh has revealed that the company is making headway in the fight against MTN Mobile Money Fraud since the complaints of MoMo fraud has for some time now reduced.
According to the seasoned telecoms and financial services business leader, measures to mitigate the discomforts customers go through with cases of MoMo frauds is working very well.
Speaking at this year’s MTN Media Forum at Labadi beach Hotel, Mr Selorm Adadevoh made known that his company is doing everything necessary to make MoMo Fraud very costly.
“So far we’ve seen and I’m sure you can attest that the complaint on MoMo fraud has gone down. We’re not there yet but we have collaborated with our partners on the other side who are in telecom chamber and we’re trying to build things that allow the barrier of continuing to be a fraudster to be very hard”. – Selorm Adadevoh said.

He maintained that the institution is working with Ghana Police to clamp down on the fraudsters and possibly prosecute them.
That notwithstanding, the experienced telecom leader elaborated on the efforts put in by the institution to block mobile phones and sim cards of fraudsters unlike when they used to block only sim cards.
“This phone, within a number of hours would be blocked across all telecommunication networks in Ghana. Not the sim but the actual phone. So you have to keep buying phones before you have to keep buying sim but now phones. We are working with the Police to arrest some of these fraudsters so that we can also go to the prosecution process.” – Selorm Adadevoh added.
