Central Regional Health Directorate Announces Probe into Maternal Death at Kasoa Mother and Child Hospital

The Central Regional Health Directorate of the Ghana Health Service has confirmed a reported maternal death at the Kasoa Mother and Child Hospital and has launched a formal investigation into the incident.
In a statement issued to the media, the Directorate expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family and all those affected, describing the loss of a mother as a profoundly tragic event that demands urgent attention and accountability.
To ensure a comprehensive review, the Directorate has constituted a multi-agency investigative committee made up of representatives from the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, the Trauma and Specialist Hospital, the Central Regional Health Directorate, the Central Regional Coordinating Council, and the Attorney-General’s Department.

According to the statement, the committee has been mandated to conduct a thorough, objective, and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The findings and recommendations will be made public upon completion, in line with efforts to promote transparency and prevent future occurrences.
The Directorate reaffirmed its commitment to patient safety, quality healthcare delivery, and the well-being of all patients, particularly mothers and children across the region.
It also appealed to the public to remain calm and allow the investigative process to proceed without interference to ensure a fair and credible outcome.
