
Six Arrested in Agona Swedru Over Alleged Impersonation of Security Operatives

The Agona Swedru District Police Command has arrested six suspects for allegedly impersonating security operatives and unlawfully detaining foreign nationals at a manufacturing company in the Central Region.
According to a statement issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service in Cape Coast on Thursday, May 7, 2026, the incident occurred on Wednesday, May 6, at about 12:00 p.m. at S. I Jun Manufacturing Company Limited, located at Agona Akwakwa near Mankrong Nkwanta.
Police said the suspects arrived at the premises in a Toyota Land Cruiser with registration number GW 8887-V, dressed in military and Ghana Immigration Service uniforms.
Preliminary investigations indicate that three of the suspects were dressed in Ghana Immigration Service camouflage uniforms, one in a military uniform, while the remaining two were in civilian clothing. The group reportedly identified themselves as National Security operatives and allegedly assaulted and harassed some Chinese nationals at the company.

Following a distress call, a police team was dispatched to the scene where officers found the vehicle parked on the premises. Three Chinese nationals identified as Man Guan, Chin Min, and Ma Kaixiang were also found handcuffed.
The suspects were immediately arrested and identified as Agyemang Benjamin, 32; Mahama Iddrisu Dawuda Seidu, 48; Ofori Isaac, 35; Adom Bills, 32; Hayford Boafo, 47; and Ato Mchenry, 48.
All six suspects are currently in police custody at the Agona Swedru District Police Headquarters assisting with investigations.
The Police Service noted that the Military Police, Ghana Immigration Service, and National Security have been contacted to verify the identities and affiliations of the suspects.

Investigations into the case are ongoing.
