GIPC CEO Visits Weatherford Facility in Houston to Deepen Ghana’s Petroleum Sector Partnerships

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, Mr Simon Madjie, has visited the Houston operations facility of Weatherford as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen investment and technical collaboration between Ghana and leading global oilfield service providers.

The visit followed Mr Madjie’s participation in the Offshore Technology Conference and comes at a time when Ghana is intensifying efforts to expand drilling activities, optimise production, and increase value creation across the country’s petroleum sector.

Mr Madjie was accompanied by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, Mr Hamis Ussif, as well as a delegation from the Ghana Houston Chamber of Commerce. The delegation engaged senior executives of Weatherford and toured the company’s integrated operations facility in Houston.

Discussions during the visit focused on Weatherford’s expertise in drilling, production optimisation, intervention services, managed pressure drilling technologies, and real-time operational support. The parties also explored opportunities for future collaboration in areas including technology transfer, drilling support services, and capacity building for Ghana’s energy sector.

The engagement underscored the importance of strategic partnerships in advancing Ghana’s petroleum value chain and strengthening the country’s position as a competitive destination for responsible energy investment.
