NAS CEO Inspects Upper East Emergency Dispatch Center and Tongo Ambulance Station

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Ambulance Service (NAS), Dr. (Med) George Kojo Owusu, has inspected the Emergency Dispatch Center (EDC) and the Tongo Ambulance Station in the Upper East Region as part of a one-day working visit aimed at strengthening emergency healthcare delivery.

During the visit, Dr. Owusu toured the Emergency Dispatch Center, which was renovated with support from Catholic Relief Services (CRS). The facility plays a vital role in enhancing pre-hospital emergency coordination and improving emergency response services across the region.

The NAS CEO also inspected ongoing renovation works at the Tongo Ambulance Station, another project funded by CRS to improve ambulance infrastructure and operational efficiency in underserved communities.

Addressing stakeholders during the visit, Dr. Owusu underscored the importance of the longstanding partnership between the National Ambulance Service and Catholic Relief Services, noting that such collaborations are critical to strengthening Ghana’s emergency response systems and improving healthcare outcomes nationwide.

He further commended CRS for its continued commitment to supporting infrastructure development, operational improvements, and the advancement of pre-hospital emergency medical care in Ghana.
