Ghana, UAE Discuss Fish Production, Exports and Sustainable Fisheries Investment

Ghana and the United Arab Emirates are exploring stronger collaboration in the fisheries sector following a high-level meeting between officials from both countries in Accra.

The engagement took place during a courtesy call by Ghanaian authorities on the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Ghana, Dr. Abdulla Al Mandoos, at the UAE Embassy in Accra, where discussions centered on strategic investment opportunities and partnerships within Ghana’s fisheries industry.

Key areas of discussion included fish production, fish exports, mariculture development, and broader investment opportunities aimed at boosting the growth and sustainability of the sector.
During the meeting, Ambassador Al Mandoos expressed the UAE’s strong interest in partnering with Ghana on ocean-related initiatives and sustainable fisheries investments. He stressed the importance of understanding Ghana’s priorities and drawing lessons from the country’s experiences to establish impactful and long-term partnerships.

The Ghanaian delegation welcomed the engagement and expressed optimism about the prospects of deepening bilateral cooperation between the two countries. Particular emphasis was placed on the significant growth potential in fish production and exports, as well as the need to strengthen compliance within the fisheries sector through collaboration with development partners.
The discussions also highlighted the importance of expanding opportunities in mariculture as part of efforts to enhance food security, create jobs, and drive economic growth.

Both sides concluded the meeting with a shared commitment to exploring and expanding investment and partnership opportunities in Ghana’s fisheries sector.
