Political frustration should never become a basis for rewriting history or unfairly attacking colleagues in the pursuit of power.

Recent comments by the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), , during his thank-you tour in Tamale South regarding the 2023 Minority Leadership reshuffle and its alleged impact on the party’s 2024 electoral victory, have sparked concern among sections of the party.

While the reshuffle may have contributed to the party’s preparations ahead of the elections, it is inaccurate and unfair to suggest that the leadership changes alone secured victory for the NDC and President in the 2024 general elections.

The NDC’s electoral success was achieved through collective sacrifice, strategic planning, and the tireless efforts of party faithful across the country.

As National Chairman, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah’s public comments should promote unity, fairness, and internal cohesion rather than create divisions or deepen existing tensions within the party.

Observers within the party believe that disagreements should be addressed with maturity, facts, and mutual respect instead of public remarks that risk creating unnecessary disaffection among loyal supporters.

At this critical stage of the party’s growth, the focus should remain on strengthening unity and protecting the image of the NDC ahead of future political contests.

It is also important to acknowledge the immense contributions of key party figures such as , , and , who played significant roles during challenging periods in the party’s parliamentary journey.

The events of January 7, 2021, which led to the election of the Speaker of the 8th Parliament, remain a testament to the strategic leadership, unity, and resilience demonstrated by members of the Minority Caucus. Those contributions, many believe, should not be overlooked or erased from the party’s political history.

Concerns have also emerged among some party supporters regarding what they perceive as persistent criticism directed at certain Muslim and Northern leaders within the NDC. Political analysts warn that such perceptions, whether intentional or not, could create unnecessary divisions within the party’s support base.

Northerners and Muslims continue to represent a vital pillar of the NDC’s strength, loyalty, and electoral success, and their contributions to the growth of the party remain significant.

Meanwhile, Hon. Muntaka Mubarak and Hon. Haruna Iddrisu continue to serve diligently in their respective roles as Minister for the Interior and Minister for Education under the administration of President Mahama.

Party faithful are therefore urging leadership to ensure that public discourse within the NDC is guided by respect, fairness, political maturity, and a shared commitment to preserving party unity.

At this crucial moment, many believe that strengthening internal cohesion and promoting mutual respect remain essential to safeguarding the future of the NDC.
