Driver Burnt Beyond Recognition in Fiery Motorway Crash

A tipper truck driver was burnt beyond recognition after a horrific collision involving a fuel tanker and another truck on the Accra–Tema Motorway.

The crash sparked a massive fire, prompting an emergency response from personnel of the Motorway, Ashaiman, and Industrial Area Fire Stations.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service, firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control with assistance from a water tanker supplied by the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly, preventing the flames from spreading to nearby areas.

Three victims were rescued from the accident scene and transported to Tema General Hospital for medical treatment. However, the tipper truck driver became trapped in the wreckage and lost his life in the inferno.

Firefighters later carried out recovery operations to retrieve the charred remains of the deceased driver from the burnt vehicle.

Officers from the Ashaiman Police Command were also deployed to the scene to provide security and support the recovery exercise.

The exact cause of the accident remains unknown, with investigations expected to determine what led to the collision and the subsequent fire outbreak.

The incident resulted in heavy traffic congestion along sections of the busy motorway as emergency teams worked to contain the situation and clear the wreckage.
