The Municipal Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) for Abuakwa South, Mr. Aikins Ofori, has described the Community Mining Programme introduced under the administration of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as a “jobs for the boys” initiative that largely w Patriotic Party (NPP).

Speaking during an interview on Radio 1’s weekend current affairs programme, The Issues, hosted by Nana Kwabena

According to him, the implementation of the initiative was politically influenced, with many appointments and opportunities allegedly reserved for party loyalists rather than qualified individuals and community members who genuinely depended on mining for their livelihoods.

He stressed the need for a more transparent and inclusive mining policy that prioritizes environmental protection, local participation, and sustainable economic development.
