The Abuakwa South Municipal Security Council (MUSEC), in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), has banned the use of tricycles, popularly known as “Aboboyaa” and “Pragia,” for transporting fuel from filling stations to mining sites within the municipality.
According to the Abuakwa South Municipal NADMO Director, Aikins Ofori, the decision is part of efforts to prevent fire outbreaks, fuel-related accidents, and other safety hazards associated with the transportation of petroleum products using unsafe means.
Mr. Ofori stated that the directive is intended to protect lives and property, particularly in mining communities where fuel is often transported in large quantities without adequate safety measures.
He therefore appealed to fuel station operators, miners, and the general public to comply with the directive, warning that anyone who breaches the ban will face the appropriate sanctions.
