An abandoned galamsey pit at Akyem Adukrom in the East Akim Municipality in the Eastern Region, has claimed the life of a 7 year old Takyi Blessing.
According to the deceased mother Comfort Takyiwaa, she sent her son on an errand with his age mate, but few minutes later her son dead body was brought to her. She shared her sad story with Radio1 Oppong Kyekyeku.
The rescue team explained to Mrs. Comfort Takyiwaa that the young boy with the deceased wanted to initially help him after he fell into the pit, but he failed after several attempts, prompting others about the incident, but upon their arrival Blessing was already dead.
According to report the little boy who happens to be the only eye witness is currently missing and a search for him is underway. The deceased’s body has been deposited at the Kyebi government mortuary.
