Jonathan Mensah Backs Avram Grant Ahead Of 2017 AFCON

Anzhi Makhachkala defender Jonathan Mensah has offered his backing to Avram Grant to lead the Black Stars to the 2017 Africa Cup of Nation in Gabon.

Many football pundits have questioned the 61-year-old’s tactical competence in recent time following the Black Stars poor run where they failed to record victory in any of their last five games.

But one of the most dependable defenders for the Black Stars, Jonathan Mensah has given his vote of confidence to the under-fire trainer.

“I believe the FA saw something good in him that’s why they gave him the job. He came in late but did well to take us to the finals two years ago, and I think he’s showed that he is a top coach,” Mensah told TV3 sports.

“We have no other choice now as the time to the tournament is limited, therefore he should be allowed to continue with the team.”
