The Eastern regional Director of Education Gertrude Mensah has admonished Head of schools to have a constant and continues training in order to be abreast of changing situation and trends in schools across the world.
This was her speech at a training workshop organised by Education and Management Training Foundation(EDMAT) in collaboration with the Ghana Education service in koforidua.It was aimed at building the capacity of Heads and Senior Staff of Senior High school(SHS) on Effective supervision and Monitoring skills, Gertrude Mensah opine that the knowledge acquired in five years ago may not be relevant today owing to the fast rate in knowledge.
She said it has become imperative for educational managers to concentrate more on surpervion and Monitoring which are critical to the delivery of sustanable quality education, she encouraged the Heads to take the workshop seriously and update their skill to create good tone for optimum performance.
In an interview with Radio1 news ,the executive Director of EDMAT Dr.Robbert Okyene he said the vision of his outfit is to build the capacity of teachers in various institution .He said we can all attest to the fact that Educational standard in the country is on the downward trajectory .
He said it has become imperative to hint upon heads and senior staff to instil discipline in teachers and students Dr.Robbert Okyene reiterated that undisciplined is on the ascendency and teachers have put up a lackadaisical attitude towards work.
He was quick to add that teachers do not prepare lesson notes and also absent themselves from school without obtaining permission.
He finally urged Heads of schools to supervise and monitor teachers activities to enhance effective and efficient teaching and learning in the school.
