I was hurt Mahama lost 2016 elections – Gifty Osei

Outspoken gospel diva Gifty Osei has revealed how disappointed she was when John Dramani Mahama lost the 2016 general election.

In an exclusive interview with Christian Agyei Frimpong on Onua 95.1 FM, Gifty Osei said: “I got hurt when John Dramani Mahama lost the election because he is my father.”

Empress Gifty, as she is affectionately called by her fans, said she could recount in 2011, when a journalist asked her to make a wish for the Christmas season, how she said it was her wish to have lunch with the then Vice president John Dramani Mahama. A day after the story was published, she had a call from the Castle and it was the Vice President inviting her to the castle. “I was shocked [and] surprised a whole Vice President is inviting me, how I was received at the presidency.

I have not seen such an honour in my life. What at all have I done for such a great person like the Vice President to invite me. He gave me a big hamper, I took a picture of the gift, posted it on my social media platforms, from that day I took John Dramani Mahama as my father. He also took me as a daughter and it’s just father and daughter relationship between the two of us and nothing else,” she said.

When the host asked her if she supports the NDC for the matter voted for John Dramani Mahama, she was quick to say, she can’t disclose where she belongs and who she voted for.
