Million Cedi Worth Of Gold Turns ‘Fake Gold’ In Police Custody

Some 11 kilos of gold at the cost of GH¢ 1.3 million have miraculously turned to fake gold , a development leading to the arrest of 5 officers at the Legon police station.

This scandal remains the very second after the most controversial “cocaine turned baking soda” scandal which saw the wrongful interdiction of one DSP Tehoda.

It all begun when police officers were said to have chanced upon some victims of a gold scam belonging to a company called Green Global Resources Ltd just in a hotel room making preparations to buy some ounces of the precious metal.

A spokesperson for the police service, DSP Shiela Packman has revealed to the media that the precious metal, which was tested and confirmed as gold, for some strange reason(s) now turned fake in the custody of police – a strange development which led to the arrest of these officers.

According to the spokesperson, all five officers are being processed by the attorney general to figure out whether in deed there remains a case against them in court.

Meanwhile, the boss at Green Global Resources Ltd, James Baberi, has lamented the way by which the police department is handling this fragile case.

Describing Ghana’s police as corrupt, James Baberi who is a foreign national argues that “Ghana in the long run is the loser since her Security Services are apparently corrupt by cheating and driving potential investors away instead of protecting them.”
