Students appeal for construction of new school structure- Army salvation

Pupils of Asiakwa Salvation Army School at Asiakwa in the East Akim of the Eastern Region have appealed to the government to construct a new School structure for the School.

They feared that the abandoned structure could Collapse if it was not given immediate attention.

The pupils said life was uncomfortable for them because of the state of Asiakwa Salvation Army School, when it rains the school has to close for Students to go to their various homes for their safety.

Describing the state of the school, some teachers and pupils who spoke to Radio 1 news correspondent Nana Kwabena Addo said that, the structures and toilet facility was not benefitting the school, as the classrooms are opens without doors, wee-smokers have turn the school into a ”Ghetto place”, they smoked and defecate in the various classrooms and also bring their girlfriends around to have sex, leaving the abandoned used condoms and panties in the classrooms.

Assistant Headmaster of Salvation Army School Ernest Offei lamented that, because of the condition of the structures and facilities, the (pupils) use the lesson time for cleaning, before class will start and anytime is about to rain they have to close, because the classroom will be flooded and feared it will collapse.

He further said, due to this situation teaching and learning activities becomes unbearable, adding that it could negatively affect academic performance.

He finally appealed to government to come to their aid for the dilapidated structure to be fix at the school and makes teaching and learning comfortable.
