As education is the process of learning gear toward assisting of individual to acquired knowledge , skills , values , believes and habit to improve standard of living. Parent has been advised to the need to take care of their child education in Ghana.
Speaking on the theme ;Relevance of the girl child education in the contemporary world ” special guest at the programme ‘Girls Child Education’ organised by Nsutam DA JHS, was Madam Bernice Osei Nimo who works at Executive Finance Department Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) emphasized the need of parent, the reason why they should send their girl child to school, she stated that educated women are more likely to participate in the decision making, it also improves socio – economic growth, A woman who is educated is likely to escape poverty, live a healthier and productive life and raise the standard of living for her children.
The biggest hurdle is the prejudices that families have about girls, like girls are slow learners, they are to rational; they are to be confined inside the domestic household, and why bother about educating them. Only handful of people have actually realized the importance of educating a girl.
According to Madam Osei, Girls Global Education Fund report that when a child is born to a less educated die before age five, increase education of girls also increases female health care providers.
She urged parent to take their girl child to school instead of kitchen, that time has passed away ,she promised to cater for two(2) female brilliant but needy students in Nsutam D/A JHS ,she also donated one thousand Ghana cedis (gh1000) and also provide sanitary pads for the girls.
The headmaster of the school Mr. Antwi Boakye Frank also appealed to students to avoid teenage pregnancy and concentrate on their books to attain high level in the society in which they will find themselves and become useful in the society .
He finally thanked Madam Osei for her kind gesture and promise to used the money for the purpose in which it was given.
