Some of the Private Senior high schools in the Central region records low enrollment due to the Free Senior high school policy.
The National Financial Secretary for Private Schools Association, Mr. Alex Author who visited some of the Private Schools in the region explained that, only few students have turned up for the admission in those private schools.
According to him, this was not the case on previous academic years, and due to that, most of the headmaster’s were complaining about the situation.
‘’Since school re-opens I have not received even a single student’’. A headmaster fumed.
Some of the schools he visited were A.M.E Zion S.H.S at Winneber, Best Brain College at Bremen Asikuma, St Andrew S.H.S at Assin Fosu and Heritage Academy.
Mr. Alex Author who is also the Proprietor of Ajumako Senior High School [AJUSEC], said, the enrollments of students in this academic year is very poor in the Private SHS as compared to the previous academic years due to Free S.H.S.
He stated that, some of the students are still at home, ‘’those who couldn’t gained admission to enjoy the policy, those who completed school last year and previous years who couldn’t further their education due to financial issues are all home, so it seem the President is doing bias’’
Mr. Alex pleaded to the government to give them their quota, he also encouraged parents to send their wards to Private Schools for better tuition.
‘’ I will entreat the government to do something on this for us, because we tax, the government should consider us and come to our aid, ’our doors are always open for all and will encourage parents to send their wards to the Private Schools for better tuition.’’ he lamented.
