It was Unfair to Arrest Appiah Stadium – Hon Baba Jamal

Baba Jamal, former Member of Parliament for Akwetia in the Eastern Region has stated that, how the police arrested Frank Kwaku Appiah popularly known as Appiah stadium is not fair as if he was criminally charged.

Speaking to Radio 1 Breakfast Show, ‘Susubiribi’ with the host Captain Kofi Wusu, he explained that the charges against Appiah Stadium was just a minor charges, moreover he came out to apologise.

According to the former MP they should have called him to investigate the allegations rather than sending policemen to arrest him

‘’The president is far senior lawyer than me, he started law before I was born and so he should know more than me when it comes to law, charging Appiah with this minor shouldn’t have cause the president to arrest him this way, moreover he has called to apologise, and so he shouldn’t have been arrested this way, causing financial lost to the state by filling all those vehicles with fuel.’’ He lamented.

The Former Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour Relations added that the government is being partial by doing such thing to Appiah Stadium, even those who killed Captain Mahama were not arrested the way they did to Appiah.

‘’Though it not advisable to insult an elderly person by law and as our tradition demand, even if the person is one day older than you, or any leader in our communities, but it’s just a minor crime which shouldn’t have be treated as if he is a criminal.’’ he stressed.
