MMDC’s financing President On his tour is not something new’- Nana Atto Arthur

The Head of Local Government service, Nana Atto Arthur has stated that, for Northern Regional coordinating council (RCC) and Local government and rural development to finance president visit in the region is not something new and this is not the first time something of such is happening in the country.

There was at the back of controversial leaked letter from the Northern regional coordinating council and Local Government and Rural Development Ministry, asking the Municipal, Metropolitan and Districts Council to pay an amount of GHC5, 000 to finance the President visits to the regions.

In an interview with the host of Radio 1 Morning Show Captain Kofi Owusu, Mr Atto Arthur described the controversial money to finance the President tour as something in the system for quite a long time.

”The money ordered by the northern regional minister is normal and am not surprise because this is there for a long time ,the money is not for the minister, but is to welcome the president, and I don’t see the reason why people are debating about this issue, is true that they should pay GHC5,000 but is confidential not for public consumption, any President who tour everywhere is part of Our culture, that is when an elderly or prominent person visit you ,when leaving there is something necessary to give him to remember you or the region, so I wonder why this letter leaked but we will deal with that person.’’ he said.

Mr. Author warned that officials who leaked the letter would be fished out and severely punishes to serve as a deterrent to others.

According to him, there are some people who want to prevent the progress of the government and such people would not be spared when found guilty.

‘’It was imperative for local government service official to dedicates and show commitment to the service, moreover their work is non-partisan, and I’m shock to hear that someone from the assembly has leaked the letter which is secret and confidential to the Regional Coordinating council, our investigation will show who revealed that letter and that person would dealt with.’’ he stated.
