Residents of Madina Ritz Junction Goes Red

The gas explosions that hit two fuel stations at Atomic Junction in Accra last Saturday has concluded, but seems to have create some awareness for Ghanaian’s as most of them have started writing petitions and demonstrating for LPG gas filling stations close to homes to be removed.

Among these activities is the demonstration by the people of Madina Ritz Junction. Residents are pleading to the Assembly man, DCE and Minister to do something about the situation before another disaster strike the area.

According to our reporter, residents agreed that as at the time of citing the gas station there were no house around the area but then now the station is being surrounded by houses and it is posing as a threat to their lives.

Speaking to Radio 1 news, Kwabena Preko a resident said they mean no harm or bring down someone’s business but then their lives are more important. He added that they fear another disaster may strike them sooner or later if nothing is done about it.

 “If nothing is done we will be forced to take the law into our hands and fight for ourselves”, he concluded.
