Kwesi Nyantakyi’s Performance Is Below Expectations – MP

The Member of Parliament for Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese constituency Elvis Morris Donkor, has torn up the reputation of the Kwesi Nyantakyi, saying the GFA president’s performance is below expectation.

The MP says Ghana football under Nyantakyi has been in deep waters, and rated it 40% on its performance.

The GFA has always defended and touted its performance, whiles Kwesi Nyantakyi is said to have transformed Ghana football.

But in a wide-ranging interview with Ash FM, the member of the Parliamentary select Committee on Youth, Sports and Culture, painted a gloomy picture about Ghana football.

“I have followed Ghana football for such a long time and in my personal view football in Ghana is in deep waters,” he said.

“Ghana football Association must be up and doing,I know Kwesi Nyantakyi is working but his performance is not to the extent Ghanains expected.

Hon Elvis, talking extensively about Ghana football, urged the clubs to consider proper branding to ensure the revival of club football in the country, which he says has lost its “enthusiasm”.

He bemoaned the incessant player exodus in the Ghanaian league, urging the clubs to put in proper measures that will aid them maintain their players.

“Today clashes between Hearts and Kotoko does not attract the patronage it used to be,”he said.

“I grew up in Cape Coast and saw how matches between Dwarf and Vipers were rated, but today the enthusiasm is missing.

“Every star that will emerge from the league leaves at the season.Players see no reason to stay in Ghana.Teams are not able to maintain these stars and it is affecting the league.”

When asked to rate Ghana football under Nyantakyi’s administration, the MP said football is performing at 40%.

He described the performances of the national teams and clubs at continental competitions as “bad.”

“In the olden days when we were not advanced, our clubs were doing well in club competitions,”he said.

“The national team won trophies and players were on top.But today our performance is nothing to write home about.

“So if in this modern era that we can say we are more advanced and we can’t win anything for such a long time, then I can only rate our football at 40% and it is bad.
