Drivers Threaten To Stop Paying Booking Fee And Parking Fee

Drivers at Bunso Junction Station in the Eastern Region, have threatened to stop paying Booking Fees and Parking Fees as Revenues to the government in the Fanteakwa South District, effective Monday,  should their grievances not addressed.
This is as a result of other “trotro” rivers who have chosen to park and load at the pedestrians lanes, ‘stealing passengers’ supposed to board from the main station but do not pay booking and parking fees to the government. And it appears they get more customers at the roadsides than those at the station.
Investigations Conducted by Radio1 newsroom revealed that vehicles journeying from Accra and Kumasi have been directed by the Motor Transport and Traffic Department (MTTD) in the Police Service to offload at the main station but they have disregarded the directives and in turn offload at the roadside and at a car park of a Bank.
However, these “trotro” drivers have taking advantage of the car park of the said bank and using it as their loading point and thereby snatching passengers supposed to board from the main station.
This attitude has caused the drivers at the main station to waste more time before a car makes full which is costing them highly to meet the demnds of the day, especially to their car owners. therefore they have planned to have a meeting on Sunday 12 August, 2018 then after they take a decision not to pay Booking Fees and Parking fees anymore.

It will be recalled that barely a year ago, there were rampant occurrences of accidents on this highway and remedies to the accident were Construction of Speed rumps, Road signs and ordering all drivers to load and offload at the main station however, some trotro drivers have paid deaf ears to the directives.
