UESD Brouhaha; Don’t Confuse Us – NDC Communication Officer

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Officer for Yilo Korobo, Emmanuel Okrah today in an interview on Radio1fm 100.7 Susubiribi Morning Show has asked the President, H.E. Nana Akuffo Addo to set the records straight with issues of moving the main campus of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD) from Somanya to Bunso.

According to Okrah, all that they want from Nana Akuffo Addo is for him to tell the truth in his speech because it’s not reflecting. He said Nana Addo has stated that UESD is going to be in Somanya and not Bunso but they believe the Government is trying all possible means to take the university from Somanya to Bunso.

He noted that the issues relating to UESD has been there for long and said it was the office of H.E John Dramani Mahama that a sod was cut for the construction of the university. He added that a document was sent to Parliament for passing of a loan of US$90for the Bunso Campus Project (BCP).

Okrah said that the Headquarters and Vice-Chancellor’s residence is being planned to be built at Bunso instead of Somanya and they don’t understand why it should be so when the main campus is in Somanya because there will be more buildings on Bunso campus than Somanya.

The Communication Officer said that information reaching them tells that about there is no work ongoing and about 150 workers have been sacked from the work site. He added that the Minister of Education for Tertiary Institution is also not allowing anyone to the work site being Tradition leaders, Journalists or even the MPs. He therefore noted that the documents they have are not forged document from them but an authentic public document.
