E/R: NPP Raises ₵795,000 From Disqualified Parliamentary Candidate Aspirants

Reference to a press statement issued by the Eastern regional secretary for the ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP, Mr Jeff Konadu Addo, which reveals that 15 aspirants out of the total 79 who went for vetting ahead of the April 25 primaries could not be cleared and therefore not eligible to contest in the primaries.

None of the disqualified aspirants was a member of Parliament which means each paid a total of ₵52,000.00 at the time of filing nominations. (₵2,000 as picking form, ₵20,000 as filing fee and ₵30,000 as development fees: totaling ₵52,000.00)

Simple Arithmetics will bring the total to ₵780,000.00

It is important to note that none of these funds are refundable.

In addition to the ₵52,000, each was asked to pay an unrefundable token of ₵1,000.00 as vetting fee which also amounts to ₵15,000.00.

In all the 15 disqualified aspirants have officially contributed ₵795,000.00 for the party to cushion the party’s coffers.

In the statement released by the party’s reginal scribe, the 15 are not cleared and their reasons would be forwarded to national headquarters to make the final decisions on them.

Fifteen (15) out of 79 Aspirants were not cleared at the Vetting

Out of the 79 aspirants who filed their nominations in the Eastern Region, Fifteen (15) aspirants from nine (9) Constituencies were NOT recommended to contest for the parliamentary candidates positions in their respective constituencies. Detailed report and reasons for their disqualification will be sent to the National Headquarters for consideration and final approval.
